Uses: Her Runic blade is very potent when used properly. When you are fighting magic using enemies (especially bosses), it can be very handy. It's a good way to prevent harm from coming to your party, plus recovering Celes' HP a bit. (note:It even works against the ULTIMA spell)

Weaknesses: One bad thing about the Runic blade is that it might take longer to defeat enemies, since it means one less attack. Also, not all enemies use magic, so it might not be always good. There are still certain spells (like FALLEN ONE) which aren't affected by it.

History: Celes doesn't know who her birth parents were. When she was born, she was put in Emperor Gestahl's posesion. The Emperor had Cid drain an Esper's energy and have it infused into her. She was then raised as a Magitek Knight, with magical powers. But one time, she was in South Figaro and felt that the Emperor was evil. When Locke rescued her from where she was locked in South Figaro, she became a traitor, and thus joined the Returner's.
